An unfinished Adventure
Our goal was to walk Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast trail across northern England. We experienced the beauty of the Lake District, but after days of relentless rain, flooded paths, and endless bogs, the trail became increasingly difficult and unsafe. Eventually, we made the difficult decision to end the journey early.
Although unfinished, it remains one of our most memorable adventures. Sometimes the greatest lesson is knowing when to respect nature and accept that not every journey reaches its planned destination.
Looking back, it wasn’t a disappointment so much as a change of plans. Instead of battling the weather, we turned north and discovered Scotland. We wandered the historic streets of Glasgow and Edinburgh, then continued to the Isle of Skye, whose dramatic landscapes and ever-changing skies became one of the highlights of our journey.
