exploring the Coastal, Central, and Spiritual Variant from Porto to Santiago

In 2019 My wife Pat, my sister Sakkar and I returned to Portugal to walk Portuguese Camino. Rather than following a single official route, we experienced portions of each route giving us the richer appreciation of many faces of this pilgrimage. From the Atlantic shoreline and historic villages to peaceful forests and the memorable and wet boat journey of the Spiritual Variant, each section revealed different character while leading us toward the same destination.
After reaching Santiago, Pat and I continued on to Finisterre – once believed to be the end of the known world. Walking to “Land’s End” provided a fitting conclusion to another unforgettable Camino.
Each Camino has its own personality, and the Portuguese Camino offered a wonderful blend of ocean vistas, quiet villages, and peaceful forests that made it distinctly different from our earlier journey across Spain.
